“Who wants to be ordinary in a crazy, mixed-up world?” (Michelle Branch)
I was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. I’m an alum of the University of Hawaii at Manoa, a journalism school graduate with a minor certificate in Spanish. I started my university years as a nursing major. When the internet blogging craze took off during my junior year of college, I jumped on the bandwagon and saw what a great impact my writing had on others. It was then I decided to pursue a career in journalism.
I served as a writer and features editor at the University of Hawaii at Manoa student newspaper. In 2006, I graduated from college and traveled to New York City to study magazine/book publishing for six weeks at the New York University Summer Publishing Institute. Afterward I landed a position as managing editor of the new “magazine division” started by Oahu Publications. I then went on to the Hawaii Catholic Herald newspaper to work as a reporter/photographer, a full-time position I still hold today.
In my spare time, I enjoy watching sports, singing and shopping.
